“……..I was in prison and you came to me.” Matthew 25:36
Our last international service trip of 2022 has just been completed. A team of 11 traveled to the Dominican Republic from October 15th to 23rd. This included 3 dentists, recent MUSC graduate Ken Parker, DCF friends Barbara and David Hayward, and myself. We were joined by a medical contingent of physicians, nurses, and a pharmacist.
We know from the Bible that God’s people are commanded to not forget those who are in prison. It seems strange to say that I actually enjoy going to prison, but the message of love and hope that the followers of Christ bring is never more needed than in places of darkness. We visited two different institutions for female prisoners where the dental and medical care that our team delivered was definitely needed. But the kind words, prayers, and copies of the New Testament will hopefully have more lasting value in the lives of the inmates.
All in all, five different trips went successfully this year! Special thanks goes out to those who follow the ministry of DCF with their payers, participation, and financial support. We thank God for the privilege of teams being able to resume overseas missions in 2022, and look forward to many more in the future!
